Coll. Marie Duchesne – Céramiques

« I make pieces in stoneware, sometimes in porcelain that I fire at high temperature (1300 °C).
The glazes are made on the basis of personal research. I use minerals from crushed rocks (feldspar, chalk, silica…) but also vegetable ashes and local clays.
My work focuses more and more on the use of ashes and in particular hay ashes, harvested in our mountain meadow. We obtain very typical glazes, thanks to the richness of the minerals contained in the ash.
Often, a little clay, recovered from the bottom of a cave in the Dent de Crolles, is added to the ash to give yellow-orange tones to the enamel. »
